Life & Death Wellness
How can you be well if you are dying? or have a serious illness?
Dr. Charfen believes you can be. She has spent her career practicing in the field of life & death in emergency departments across the country. Her patients have been the ones to show her that true wellness is not defined by someone’s physical body. By acknowledging, educating, and planning for one’s own life and death, whether (you are) currently physically healthy or living with a serious illness, one can truly experience the art and joy of living intensely and fully.

Life & Death Wellness Consults
Dr. Charfen is passionate about empowering clients to take control of their own health, life, and ultimate death. She also understands most don’t have a medical degree or background and could benefit from her expertise and support.
It is never too early to discuss with your family or decision-maker your true wishes regarding your life and your death. She urges all individuals, not just those who have been diagnosed terminal, to make a well-informed plan. She has witnessed many emergent situations where the patient’s family or significant other has no idea the wishes of the dying. Dr. Charfen can compassionately walk you through this type of planning and thoroughly explain the terminology, options and support available.

Pain Management
Pain management is one of the biggest concerns and fears that a terminal patient or one facing a chronic or life-threatening illness must deal with. Dr. Charfen highly recommends hospice care for those who are open and meet the hospice qualifications, as she has witnessed first hand the incredible role it has in managing pain. However, she realizes not all patients are ready or qualify for hospice. In those special circumstances, Dr. Charfen will work with patients in her office or at their homes, using the methods with which the individual feels most at ease. She prescribes both narcotic and non-narcotic pharmaceuticals, in addition to certifying for medical cannabis. She also supports many holistic non-medical approaches to pain control.
