DESCRIPTION:  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFor the first time since the pandemic began\, Dr Charfen will be co-facilitating an in-person End-of-life Doula training in Kohala with her dear friend and founder of Inspired Endings\, Bobbi Bryant.\n\nA Personal and Probable Death Experience \n\nThe day after the training\, Dr. Charfen will be offering a ketamine experiential session open only to EOL Doula trainees who qualify to receive the medicine. This will be separate from the training\, and will be held in a safe and sacred space in Dr. Charfen’s office\, in a group setting.\nAlthough she cannot guarantee one will meet their mortality in the ketamine space\, she does know that after just having spent three days of such devoted time around the subject\, it is a very big possibility.\nRegardless of the exact journey\, it will offer an opportunity for personal healing. DESCRIPTION:Take a deeper look at mental health and end-of-life issues\, including a paradigm-shifting perspective about transformative care through psychedelics\, with our special guest\, Dr. Scott Shannon. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFeatured Presenter \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDr. Scott Shannon – Holistic Child\, Adolescent and Adult Psychiatrist \nDr. Scott is the founder of the Psychedelic Research and Training Institute (PRATI) in Fort Collins\, Colorado. Scott has been a student of consciousness since his honor’s thesis on that topic at the University of Arizona in the 1970s. Following medical school\, MDMA-assisted psychotherapy became a facet of his practice before this medicine was scheduled in 1985. He then completed a Psychiatry residency at a Columbia program in New York. Scott studied cross-cultural psychiatry and completed a child/adolescent psychiatry fellowship at the University of New Mexico. He has published four books on holistic and integrative mental health including the first textbook for this field in 2001. Scott is a past President of the American Holistic Medical Association and a past President of the American Board of Integrative Holistic Medicine. He serves as a site Principle Investigator and therapist for the Phase III trial of MDMA-assisted psychotherapy for PTSD\, sponsored by Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS). \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

This support group is for adults who have experienced the loss of someone through death\, regardless of when or what your relationship is to that person. \nMeet the leader of this group: \nAloha! My name is Leah Ledward and I am the Bereavement Coordinator with North Hawaii Hospice. I am new to the company having just started in December 2019. Prior to that\, I was a Grief Counselor with Hospice of Kona for a year and a half. Since the transition I have absolutely loved living and working right here in Waimea! I graduated from the University of Hawaii at Hilo with a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology with a clinical focus in May 2017\, and just recently obtained my license and am now a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). Right out of school I did intensive in-home family crisis work with Catholic Charities and Hawaii Behavioral Health. I have had tons of experience working with both children and adults and really enjoy helping people.
